Report: MTS seen third by pay TV subscribers in Russia in Jul–Sep
MOSCOW, Oct 20 (PRIME) -- A pay TV subscriber base of Russian mobile operator MTS increased 14% in July–September to more than 3.16 million subscribers, business daily Vedomosti reported late on Thursday on its Web site, citing data of research agency TMT Consulting.
MTS climbed to the third place after National Satellite Company, working under the Tricolor TV brand, and state-controlled telecom operator Rostelecom in July–September by the number of pay TV clients.
TMT Consulting explained MTS’ progress by the fact that in July–September, the company started counting subscribers of satellite TV, reaching 357,000 households by October. In such a way, MTS was ahead of ER-Telecom and Orion.
MTS started providing satellite TV services in the middle of 2015. The operator’s spokesman Dmitry Solodovnikov agreed with results of the experts’ research.
